GD Vidreiros promotes solidarity day to support club affected by wildfires
Grupo Desportivo Os Vidreiros (GD Vidreiros) could not “remain indifferent” to the wildfires that struck several regions in the North and Center of Portugal about three weeks ago — namely the destruction of part of the sports ground of Juventude Académica Pessegueirense — and is organizing a solidarity day to support this Aveiro-based club.
Next Saturday, October 12, GD Vidreiros will open the doors of Campo do Tojal, in Picassinos, Marinha Grande, to welcome all those who wish to contribute to the reconstruction of Pessegueirense’s football field.
“We believe that together we can truly make a difference,” wrote Francisca Simões, Vice-President of the Marinha Grande club, in a press release.
GD Vidreiros, together with Pessegueirense, is preparing a day filled with multiple activities, tributes to Portuguese firefighters, and some surprises.
Admission to the solidarity event costs three euros, with all proceeds going directly to the reconstruction of Pessegueirense’s football field.
On September 16, a wildfire hit the football ground of Juventude Académica Pessegueirense, damaging the club’s facilities. With the support of civil society, the club now aims to rebuild the space and repair the damage caused by the flames.
